Garnet
Said to offer protection, particularly whilst travelling, garnet has been carried by travellers for hundreds of years, and in the bible, Noah is said to have used a garnet lantern to help him steer his ark through the darkness during the flood. The stones proverbial luminosity originates from its high refractive index.
Garnet most often appears in red, and various shades of green, but is available in every colour except blue. It is a relatively hard stone, meaning it is less susceptible to damage from cosmetics, scratching or heat.
