Drusy

‘Druse’ refers to a rock surface covered with a large number of minute crystals. Gems which feature these tiny crystals are described as having a drusy habit, and look as if they are covered or part covered with a sparkling coat of crystal sugar. Naturally coloured drusy is usually found in white, grey tan and cream, although some stones are dyed to give alternative colours and finishes.

Because of its open multi-crystal structure, drusy is usually more susceptible to scratching or breaking. Clean gently with a soft brush, and avoid harsh cleaning agents and ultrasonic or steaming processes.
