Aquamarine
Signifying faith, courage and friendship, for hundreds of years aquamarine has been reputed to bring marital happiness to the woman who wears it. From pale sky blues to the colour of deep sea, aquamarine is treasured for its gorgeous fresh hues which compliment almost any skin tone and eye colour.
Its name is derived from the Latin 'aqua' (water) and 'mare' (sea). Aquamarine, like emerald, belongs to the beryl family, but is generally of a more even colour and less included than its greener cousin. Aquamarine is a relatively hard stone which means it has good durability. Most aquamarine comes from Brazil. However, aquamarines are also found in other countries, for example Nigeria, Zambia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
