Jewellery Care Tips

Gold Jewellery

Gold jewellery should be cleaned regularly to maintain its beauty and shine. A soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep your gold pieces looking lustrous.

Gold is a relatively delicate metal, and is susceptible to damage from chlorine. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage or discolour your gold jewellery. Therefore, avoid wearing gold jewellery when using chlorine or bleach, or while in a pool or hot tub.

White gold is plated with a metal called rhodium, which gives it a bright white finish. Rhodium plating may wear away if the item is worn regularly and is in regular contact with other surfaces. Consequently rings and bracelets will occasionally require re-plating; earrings and necklaces will rarely need re-plating.
